The article is dedicated to the features of Forestry in the Republic of Belarus, where area of forest land reached 9.5 million hectares (the total area of FSC certified forests is 5.2 million hectares). The standing timber is estimated approximately to 1.7 billion m3. In the Republic of Belarus Forestry is an independent economic branch, part of the forest sector. The article presents information about forest species composition, forest categorization (depending on functions of forest areas), data on protected forest areas (special protected natural areas, water conservation forest, etc.) and production forests for timber. The article reveals the system of state forests management in country (authority, tasks and functions of the relevant departments), education in forest institutes, forest legislation (protection and conservation, rental rules, monitoring, technical codes of conduct forestry), matters, concerning ensuring the legality of forest management, including using forest management plans and educational work among the citizens for the forest protection and changes in Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus.
