The Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) has been prepared by Agency of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia. The ESMP is related to the preparation of possible text for the draft law on the establishment of a Protected Area to protect Pontic oak (Quercus pontica), a Red List species of Georgia. The future protected area will cover about 540 ha and will be located in Chokhatauri Municipality, Georgia. All of the key provisions of the ESMP were agreed with the local villagers and other stakeholders. More details are given in the attached document.
