The article is dedicated to forestry in the Republic of Belarus – the country, which is among the top ten most forest European countries, the state, where forest coverage in relation to land area is 39,3 %. Sustainable forestry is provided by developed and continuously improved regulatory framework for sustainable forest management, which is based on the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus. State holds special actions for reforestation, including actions for assistance of natural forest regeneration, using modern intensive technologies in the forest nursery (“The State Program of development for forest nurseries in the organizations of the Ministry of Forestry the Republic of Belarus for 2010-2015”), breeding forest inventory, seed breeding base of the main forest-forming species, thinning, forest engineering using GIS technology. The government supports conducted scientific and applied research on conservation of forests genetic potential, increasing its stability and productivity, seed zoning, layout genetic reserves of English oak. Sustainable, cost-effective, environmentally responsible and socially oriented forest management is implemented by government of the Republic of Belarus through such State policy documents as “The State Program for Forestry Development in the Republic of Belarus for 2011-2015”, “The National Program for the development of local and renewable energy resources for 2011-2015” etc.
