The article reveals New Project of Forest Code in the Republic of Belarus, which is aimed to improve forestry system, to increase economic efficiency of forestry, to provide multipurpose forestry considering environmental values of forest. The article presents analysis of changes in forest management  (authorities of President, representatives of local governments), citizen’s rights, concerning public participation in the process of decision making related to the forest protection and forest use.

New Project of Forest Code made revision of the system for territorial organization of  forest area, state recording of forest area to optimize reporting forms, changed approaches to activities on forest estimation record and provided simplification of forest management activities, clarified the rights and obligations of timber enterprises, changed forest classification system (instead of current 15 categories of forest 4 categories are offered). New Project of Forest Code offered new economic instrument (motivation) – benefits to timber enterprises, provided fulfillment of plan for management of special protected natural areas (which included in forest lease). The project strengthens requirements for the creation  of permanent forest seed base and its use, describes activities for biodiversity conservation.
