Antarner.net Blog Up and Running in Armenia
Within the framework of the ENPI-FLEG Program the http://antarner.net/ multi-user blog project (translates into English as "forests.net") highlighting illegal logging issues in Armenia was launched.
This project started alongside the training for 15 journalists, NGO representatives and active citizens held in the capital city of Yerevan on July 15-18, 2010. It allowed participants to learn techniques for writing in the Internet, posting photo and video materials and using Internet media and social networks to disseminate information.
Upon completion of the training the "Antarner.net" multi-user blog was created, run by the participants themselves. They write about specific cases of illegal logging, business projects implemented at the expense of forest resources, issues related to the legislative framework, changes occuring within the ecosystem as a result of illegal logging, specific court cases, as well as tree planting and reforestation issues.
"Antarner.net" provides a unique platform which allows active citizens concerned about illegal logging issues to freely express their ideas and opinions and participate in wider discussions. Since its launch the blog has proved rather popular with average of 100 visitors per day. It is also one of the Armenian language blogs gaining quick visits in the Wordpress blog platform.
