A new draft law has been submitted to Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament: “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine to Guarantee the Rights of Citizens for the Common Use of Forest Resources”.

FSC Regional Workshop in Baku
FSC Regional Workshop for Caucasus was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 1st of August with support of FLEG II program. Joint event was organized by FSC Regional Office for CIS countries together with valuable support of Green Building Council Azerbaijan, WWF-Azerbaijan, the Architects Union of Azerbaijan Republic, Young Architects and Student Club, MGIMO University and Akrolit LLC. The workshop hosted discussions about supporting responsible management of forests in the region through the formation of environmentally responsible procurement of certified timber from socially and ecologically oriented business.
Discussing the FLEG II proposals for improving the hunting model in Ukraine
July 7, 2015 in Boyarka, Kyiv region, the Ukrainian Center for Forestry Training ("Ukrtsentrkadrylis") hosted a round table devoted to the discussion of proposals for the improvement of national legislation aimed at supporting the effective management in hunting sector of Ukraine.
Children from 6 countries agreed to cooperate at FLEG II first regional youth camp
The young foresters from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine came together at FLEG II first regional youth camp in Gakh, Azerbaijan on August 2-6, 2015. They discussed ways of improving and increasing the young forester movement across the region, as well as the international experience in the protection and sustainable management of the forest resources.
Forest Community “Fingerprints” Taking Shape
A valuable new tool is in the making to better assess the basic elements of a community’s reliance on its forests and help policy & forest resource practitioners identify threats and opportunities associated with forest resource use, even in the absence of direct in-person research in that community.
