On November 24-26, in Minsk the FLEG II (ENPI East) program’s round table “Implementation of the European Union Timber Regulation 995/2010: lessons learned, challenges, solutions” took place. The main issue of the meeting was the question “What is the progress in implementation of the European Union Timber Regulation?”
During the forest week 2015, around 30 people gathered in Batumi at the high level round table to discuss the objectives and priorities of The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) study for the forestry sector in Ajara Autonomous Republic, Georgia. The meeting was conducted on 26 and 27 November.
10 years ago, the Europe and North Asia Ministerial Conference on Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in St. Petersburg, Russia, brought together nearly 300 participants from 48 countries representing governments, the private sector, civil society and international organizations.
By the end of November, Georgia celebrates Forest Week with events and educational resources for children and youth, environmental and forestry professionals, local communities and general public, this year organized within the framework of the EU Funded Regional ENPI-FLEG II Program.

In the framework of the ADA supported component a new Ijevan sanctuary will be established in Tavush Region of Armenia on the basis of three existing forest sanctuaries.
On November 8, 2015, Aurel Lozan, FLEG II Country Program Coordinator for IUCN Moldova, was interviewed on the TV channel “Moldova1” for the program “Nature on Focus” to discuss the topic of fuelwood availability, demand, and supply in the country.
Members of the “FLEG II Program – Complementary Measures for Georgia and Armenia” met in Armenia for the 2nd Steering Committee meeting
The Steering Committee of the ADA-supported “ENPI East Countries FLEG II Program – Complementary Measures for Georgia and Armenia” held its second meeting in Yerevan, Armenia on October 20, 2015. The meeting provided guidance on the strategic direction of the Program, as well as reviewed and approved country work plans for the year 2016.
A short video has been prepared to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem of Azerbaijan forests, within “European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) East Countries Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) II Program” funded by the European Union (EU).
ENPI FLEG II contributes to improving Moldsilva’s website to make it more user-friendly and transparent.
