
The FLEG II Program helps foresters to address corruption!
The FLEG II Program provided the National Forest Resource Agency of the Ukraine with 860 copies of a sector-specific anticorruption best practice guide for the forest sector. This publication will be disseminated by the National Forest Resource Agency amongst its subordinated sub-national Forestry Directorates, enterprises, and professional development centres. The FLEG II Program will provide support in channeling about 30% of the copies to educational institutions and libraries and retain part of them for its own purposes.

Improving forest biodiversity conservation legal framework in Ukraine
The FLEG II (ENPI East) Programme activities were intensified last month in Ukraine as the country received a new impulse on the road to much more close integration with the EU on June 27, 2014.
On the same date in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine headquarters in Kyiv a meeting on Conservation of forest biodiversity: harmonization of legal framework between Ukraine and the European Union concerning special protected areas was organized by WWF-DCP Ukraine in the framework of the EU funded FLEG II (ENPI East) Programme.

Ukraine: is hunting a proper game?
June 26, 2014, L’viv, Ukraine. A roundtable meeting on Discussion of propositions for improving hunting in Ukraine in accordance with principles of sustainable management of nature resource was held in Ukrainian National Forestry University. This activity is implemented by WWF-DCP Ukraine in the framework of EU funded FLEG II (ENPI East) Programme. The topic of the meeting was dedicated to the problems of government regulation of hunting and its law enforcement in Ukraine and for the first time was included in the FLEG II work plan.

Analysis and developments of timber flow control system in Ukraine
A round table discussion on Assessment and development trends of the timber flow control system in Ukraine was held in June 24, 2014 in the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. This activity is implemented by WWF-DCP Ukraine in the framework of EU funded FLEG II (ENPI East) Programme. The round table participants were forest sector stakeholders of Ukraine.

Hundreds Come out to Celebrate Moldova’s Eastern Beech Forest
UNGHENI DISTRICT, MOLDOVA – Hundreds of people came together from May 19-25 to celebrate Moldova’s Beech Forest Nature Reserve during the second annual “Beech Festival—Culture and Tourism” event. Attendees enjoyed food, arts, music, and educational events promoting the natural heritage and local culture and folklore of the local forest and the people who live there.

FLEG II greets best Ukrainian "forest" journalists
On the 25th of June 2014, the final event of the third competition for journalists from all types of media, "Law enforcement and governance in the forest sector of Ukraine", took place in the World Bank office in Kyiv. The first place was won by Olena Sereda, business journalist for the newspaper "Business", with the article "Lavka brevnostei" (“The wooden curiosity shop”).

“Let’s protect the forests!” Azerbaijani Young Foresters’ Contest III concludes in Baku
The third Republican Young Foresters’ Contest, under the motto “Let’s protect the forests!” brought together forest specialists and young foresters in Baku on June 5 2014. This time the event was timed to coincide with World Environment Day. Participants, including schoolchildren from the fifth to ninth grades, took part in 3 competitions featuring topics of school-based young forestry, forest flora and forest fauna.

Round table No to Corruption in the Ukraine Forest Sector
Kyiv (Ukraine), June 17, 2014. The EU funded FLEG II (ENPI East) Programme held a round table discussion on the issue of combating corruption in the forest sector in Ukraine at the World Bank office in Kyiv on June 12th.

FLEG II Progress Celebrated and Year 2 Activities Confirmed in NPAC Meetings Across All Member Countries
Common themes of improved Country Workplans (CWPs), learning from past experiences and increasing communication have emerged from meetings of the National Program Advisory Committees (NPAC) of the participant countries of the FLEG II Program (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument East Countries Forest Law Enforcement and Governance II Program). The ongoing implementation of the Project’s activities in each member country have been discussed with agreements for activities to be launched in the second year (June 2014-July 2015) of the Program’s implementation.
