
Minister Baghirov endorses continuation of FLEG II activities in Azerbaijan

November 25, Gusari city, Azerbaijan – The FLEG II Program put together direct beneficiaries, 35 representatives of state forestry enterprises, educational and forestry experts, National Program Advisory Committee (NPAC) members, local municipalities, NGOs, academia, media, FLEG II national consultants and implementing organizations in the final stakeholders’ meeting in Gusari city. In a friendly and warm environment, the participants discussed major points of FLEG II successful 6-year journey in Azerbaijan and urged to continue the key activities in the future.

New forestry-oriented study programs are officially launched in the Azerbaijan's Touz and Shamakha district vocational professional colleges.

Winners of the media contest have been identified
FLEG II program announced three exemplary projects as winners of the media contest. Media contest was launched after the workshop for the journalists, held in Ismailly on 11-14 July 2016 with support EU funded ENPI FLEG II Program.

FSC Friday Online campaign
An online campaign was launched this year for FSC Friday - 30 September, encouraging social network users to post a photo with FSC product. The most active social media users had an opportunity to get FSC T-shirts printed within FLEG II Program and various prizes from FSC Regional Office for CIS countries.

Youth Determined to Stay Connected to Protect Forests
Young foresters from Ismayilli and Gakh districts of Azerbaijan called for unified efforts in preservation of our forestland while addressing the participants of the XIII International Junior Forest Contest.

Journalist workshop was conducted in Ismayilly on 11-14 July 2016
European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) East Countries Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) II Program organized a workshop for media representatives in Ismailli district on 11-14 July of 2016. The main objective of the event was to show FLEG II Program activities, stress the critical role of media in conservation of forests as well to inform journalists on the main aspects of the Azerbaijan forest fund and policy, to highlight current challenges of forest management.

Anniversary Young Forester Contest in Azerbaijan: “They do not only talk about ideas. They propose solutions”
The finale of the V Republic-wide Young Forester Contest “Let’s protect the forests!” featured 62 ecological projects. They covered activities of the young forester groups, observation of flora and fauna, protection of natural monuments, and study of human impact on the forests.

Study tour produced proposals to improve the current forestry-oriented vocational education in Azerbaijan
